We have been in many homes over the years and have seen a variety of furniture styles and colours. Leather furniture is something we come across a lot as many people own leather sofas and sectionals.
When staging your home for sale it can sometimes be difficult to create a balanced look with dark or heavy pieces of leather furniture. However we have found 3 ways to make a leather sofa look more attractive and at the same time, giving you an updated and cohesive look.
A traditional leather sofa is dark by nature so the easiest way to balance that out is to accent it with plenty of light for desirable contrast. Painting a lighter colour on the walls can be done. But if that is not in your budget, simply adding soft cream or white accent pillows, and/or a light coffee table will accomplish just that!
Break It Up!
Another way to minimize the visual weight of a set of leather furniture is to break it up. Keep the sofa and find a place for the other pieces. Supplementing with upholstered chairs can change the look of the space instead of keeping the matchy matchy look.
Layer Around It!
A leather sofa sitting all by its lonesome will dominate a space. Take the focus away from leather furniture by layering a room with other furnishings in different finishes, from bookcases to console tables to ottomans and end tables.
